This post from Dhruv talks in detail about the Management Science and Engineering Masters program at Stanford University. This follows his earlier post on how MS&E program
It’s a tough job trying to summarize the Management Science and Engineering (MS&E) Program in a few words. I can boldly say that it is not perfectly equivalent to any of the programs found at other Universities. It must, therefore, be understood in terms of its constituent courses and the ultimate goal that Stanford wishes to achieve with this eclectic combination of Management …

Recently i have received a larger than expected number of emails and queries as to what it takes to get into stanford. I am not claiming that i am any sort of authority or any sort of seer - who knows exactly what it takes. Samir Menon, MS ‘09 in Computer Science at Stanford took his GRE back when he was in college in 2006. He scored 1570 which is quite impressive. We are grateful to him for sharing some of his thoughts on GRE in general and also sharing his approach to the test itself. Here is what Samir had to say:

The first thing that comes to one’s mind when planning one’s graduate school applications is the Graduate Record Examination or GRE. By virtue of being a requisite of the “grad-school app” for most US universities, taking the GRE has become synonomous with applying to graduate schools in the US. I clearly remember the palpable tension that used to grip the “GRE crowd” as the deadlines for the examination would draw close. I shall share my personal experience with the GRE and some strategies I pursued as I prepared for it. I hope you find this post useful while preparing for and taking the test.
